Saturday, 5th April, was our seniors’ End of Season Awards Night. After a season of ups and downs, it was the perfect opportunity for the lads to celebrate success on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to all the award winners from the night:<\/p>\n
1XV Player of the Season – Joey Goldsmith<\/strong><\/p>\n Joey joined the Club this season, having previously played for Wimbledon. He quickly proved himself to be a competitive and uncompromising player. Comfortable at Hooker or anywhere in the back row. He has established himself as the leader in defence, always looking to put in that big hit that can change defence into attack. Popular amongst the squad. Joey is a senior leader and central to the 1st XV leadership.<\/p>\n 1XV Most Improved – Val Garrec<\/strong><\/p>\n Val started his Rugby career this season in his 30th year. A likeable French man with a South London accent! He has taken to life in the front row like a duck to water. With less than 10 games played he had won 2nd XV man of the match three weeks on the bounce he had the opportunity to play 1st XV and has never looked out of his depth even scoring the match winning try against league leaders Beckenham.<\/p>\n Clubman of the year – Patrick (Patch) White<\/strong><\/p>\n Has done a great job as 2nd XV Captain this season, and can be often found at the Club on a Sunday helping coach the age group players. Patch will always be at training even when injured making sure all ok with the team.<\/p>\n AXV Player of the Season – Harry Smith<\/strong><\/p>\n This season Harry played a lead role in keeping the team on the front foot. Both as a player and a leader. If he wasn\u2019t telling us the way,he was showing us, by making positive tackles or decisive line breaks. Harry\u2019s consistency and desire to win played a big part in the teams success this year, a stalwart of the team appreciated by the old guard and the Colts who made the transition to senior rugby.<\/p>\n AXV Clubman – Jon Lloyd<\/strong><\/p>\n This season, Jon stepped up and took the lead role in the 2\u2019s line out. Reliable and consistent in the line out, Jon helped us win quality first phase ball. Around the park, Jon often put his hand up to carry, and was solid in defence.
