Members Vicki and James (Woody) Woodall have been recognised in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours List for their Giant Pledge to Help Beat Childhood Cancer campaign.
They launched the campaign after their son, then-four, was diagnosed with a “rare and aggressive” tumour in 2017. What started out as an “out of reach” goal of £100,000 for George and the Giant Pledge now sits at £2.2 million raised, and the couple thoroughly deserve this MBE honour.
Another club member recognised in the honours list was Peter Schofield, who’s daughter was part of the girls’ section until recently and still plays touch rugby. Peter is the Permanent Secretary at the Department for Work and Pensions and was awarded Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath by His Majesty The King for public service.
