Women's Rugby

Touch and Full Contact

Women’s rugby at ORRFC is growing fast, fuelled by enthusiasm, ambition, and a brilliantly supportive atmosphere. Right now, the focus is on touch rugby. Fast, social, inclusive, and a fantastic way for women of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game without the collision element. But this is only the starting point. The club is already building toward a full-contact women’s team, creating a pathway for players who want to take that next step as skills, numbers, and confidence grow.

Whether someone is brand new to rugby, returning after a break, or quietly harbouring dreams of proper scrums and try-line heroics, the door is wide open. It’s a welcoming environment with room for both the casual player and the future contact star, and the excitement around the women’s programme makes it clear that something special is taking shape.

Women's Section News

Womens' Touch Rugby

Our overriding ethos is to play Touch Rugby for fun, and all of our sessions are light-hearted games with plenty of encouragement and guidance, and no apologies for errors (those are how we learn). All skill levels are most welcome. Our group is made up of complete beginners through to county-level players.

Upper clothing is easy; wear something comfortable without hoods and dress in layers so you can cope with any temperature. Legs; wear shorts, leggings or joggers with comfort again being important. Feet; studded boots when the ground is soft, wet or slippery and trainers when the ground is dry and firmer.

Training Times:

Every Saturday: 10.30am – 12.00
Most Wednesdays: 7.30pm – 9.00pm

You can read more about women’s touch rugby and mixed touch rugby on our dedicated page, here.

Womens' Full Contact

The slightly more “rough-and-tumble” version of the games, but sessions are still geared towards fun, whilst you learn.
Our goal is to build a strong Women’s Contact Rugby section, and to provide teams that the players in our amazing Girls section can look forward to playing for.

Clothing: The same as worn in touch rugby (above), but be prepared to get muddy and wet.

Training:

Most Friday’s: 6.15pm – 8.00pm
