Mini's Rugby
Mini Rugby at ORRFC is pure, unfiltered chaos, the joyful kind that involves tiny players, enormous enthusiasm, and at least one parent trying to remember where they last saw a gumshield. For ages 5–11, it’s all about learning the basics, making friends, and discovering that rugby is even more fun when you’re allowed to run in the wrong direction once without being judged.
The sessions mix games, teamwork, and confidence-building with just enough structure to keep things moving. The result is a lively, welcoming environment where boys and girls can dive into the sport at their own pace. These are the years filled with big smiles, muddy socks, and those heroic tries where the celebration lasts longer than the sprint. It’s rugby at its most charming and the perfect start to a lifelong love of the game.

Welcome to The Rockets!
Our U10 Old Reigatian rugby team is all about making rugby fun, friendly, and exciting—so kids not only learn the game but truly love playing it! As a key step in the RFU Age Grade pathway, we focus on embedding the fundamentals of rugby, building core skills like passing, running, and safe contact, while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship in a supportive, safe environment.
What to expect at training:
Sessions are designed to keep things lively and engaging. We start with warm-ups, then move into skill-building, scenario-based drills, and finish with small-sided games. It’s all about learning through play—developing good technique, ball handling, defence, forward play, and fitness while having fun.
Our community:
The Rockets regularly welcome 40+ enthusiastic players—girls and boys—each week, creating strong friendships on and off the pitch. Throughout the season, we mix things up with joint sessions with other local clubs and take part in rugby festivals for a morning of short, exciting games. Plus, this age group marks the start of something special: our first Rugby Tour! A weekend away to bond as a team and experience rugby in a new setting.
Ready to join?
If you’re aged 9–10 and want to give rugby a try—or keep enjoying the game—you’re welcome at The Rockets! We recommend starting with three trial sessions so your child can settle in before committing.

Under 6's
The Under 6s play a vital role within Old Reigatian RFC, introducing young players to rugby in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment.
This age group focuses on helping children take their very first steps in the game, building confidence, coordination, and social skills through enjoyable rugby-based activities.
Training sessions are designed to be playful, inclusive, and development-focused, using games and simple exercises to develop fundamental movement skills such as running, catching, evasion, and balance. At this level, there is no pressure to perform- the emphasis is firmly on learning through fun and developing a love for being active as part of a team. The Minis have their own band of heroes, the quietly brilliant support team who keep the whole show stitched together while the kids sprint off in twelve different directions. The setup is coordinated by the Mini Rugby Chair, Mark Reid, who make sure each age group has the right coaches, the right kit, and the right balance of fun and gentle order.
Safeguarding officers keep a close eye on welfare so parents can relax, and first aiders handle everything from proper knocks to the dramatic “I think I hurt my toe, but also I want a biscuit” moments. Overseeing it all is the club’s DBS lead, ensuring every coach and volunteer working with the youngest players is checked, cleared, and ready to help. Put together, it’s a warm, dependable safety net that lets the Minis learn, explore, and tumble their way through rugby with total confidence.
