After two years of intensive lockdown conditioning, the ORRFC U12 Raiders were ready to be unleashed on the poor, unsuspecting folk of Barnes!
After some tight early exchanges, we started to exert some dominance, especially in the rucks, with some superb counter rucking. Gradually our dominance started to tell and our strong runners came to the fore with Alastair, Ollie and Alfie all bashing through their resolute defence to crash over their line. Albert manfully played through the pain of two toenails about to fall off and still managed a sidestep to score! And Austen remembered that we can now hand off and put in a barn storming run to finish off the half in style!
The second half was a much tighter affair with Barnes really upping their line speed and commitment in defence. They held us up over the line on three occasions as we started to get more selfish rather than finding the space out wide. That being said, Barnes never looked like broaching our try line; with our legendary Raiders Rush defence suffocating them at every turn and Henry tidying up immaculately at the back when they resorted to kicking.
Everyone, to a man, stepped up with passion today and it was a great start to our cup campaign against a very decent team! The Bs and Cs start their campaigns at Park Lane on Sunday so please come and support.
