Our season was greatly boosted by the junior touch rugby sessions held Monday nights 6.30–7.30, thanks to the dedicated coaches (with 25–30 attendees most weeks). The sessions will be carrying on into the autumn and throughout winter — all 9 to 14 year olds welcome (plus coaches):
We’ve taken part in 3 local-level junior tournaments, medalling in all of them.
Several players have been selected for the touch rugby centre of excellence.
9 girls and 4 boys represented the South East (and medalled) at the annual national championship.
5 girls represented England at the Euros this year: Tilly Palmer-Denning (girls U20s) achieved her 4th gold medal, and Jocelyn De Acetis (girls U18s) achieved her 3rd gold medal. Saffron Selvon-Bruce’s U15 girls team came first. Liv Upton (mixed U15) scored an amazing try in the dying seconds to take the team to extra time, where they were pipped to victory by the French, finishing 2nd – a fantastic achievement!
Special thanks to our junior coaches Noush and Evelyn, who helped at most sessions throughout the summer – despite exam commitments etc.
