Old Reigatian 1st XV v Old Alleynians, Match Report

Last Saturday Old Reigatian hosted Old Alleynians, OR’s had a comfortable victory at their ground in Dulwich earlier on in the season with a 14-31 victory. However recently OA’s have been the in form Team in the league winning they last seven games and only failing to score over 50 points twice. Therefore Reigatian sitting one place above OA’s with a single point lead in the league table this was always going to be a tough fixture I’m not sure anybody was prepared for how tough!

As the half time whistle blew, thoughts turned to how the match report could read at all positively – lines such as ‘Some days the pigeon, but today the statue’, or the Latin phrase ‘O me miserum!’ [Woe is me!] sprang to mind.

Old Reigatian 1st XV travelled into London to play league leaders Battersea Ironsides. With only two points separating the sides this was always going to be a closely fought game and Saturday was not a disappointment.
Rosslyn Park Nomads v Old Reigatian 2nd XV

The season’s corresponding fixture against the Nomads, at Park Lane in November, ended in narrow win for the visitors – this time out it was the same victor, and similarly a great game of rugby to be involved in.

Old Reigatian 2nd XV v Battersea Ironsides 3rd XV, Match Report

Having played a friendly at Ironsides last week, the ‘second leg’ at Reigate felt somewhat like a film sequel, but whether it was to be Godfather II or Jaws 2 [the Revenge] remained to be seen.
Old Reigatian 1st XV v Beckenham, Match Report

Last Saturday Old Reigatian 1st XV hosted Beckenham RFC, who for most of the first half of the season were top of the league. However, a few recent defeats going into this game they were third on 52 points, only ahead of Old Reigatian on points difference. Therefore, with 1st in the League Battersea playing second place Reeds and Third Beckenham playing fourth Old Reigatian the top of the table should have some points between each other by the end of the afternoon.

With the league visit to Tiffinians cancelled, it was important for ORs A XV to keep momentum building, after the previous weeks’ vibrant outings, so a friendly fixture was organised [thanks to Ed Bartlett] as a replacement.

Reeds Weybridge 2nd XV v Old Reigatian 2nd XV, Match Report

There are those rugby days that stay long in the memory, and this will definitely be one of them! On a bitterly cold afternoon, at Whiteley Village, the AXV managed to bring warmth and a cheery glow to all Reigatians involved – players and supporters alike, with a performance that was, if not quite a perfect 10, a very strong 9.5.
